Vale Leith Gregurke
A tireless and generous supporter, volunteer and South Australian bowls member
Bowls SA expresses our condolences to Leith’s family, the State team community and the members of both the Geranium and District and Lameroo Bowling Clubs on the passing of Leith Gregurke.
A player and administrator of many and various sports over the years, Leith was active across his community, including as a sports trainer at the Geranium Football Club, Inaugural member of Geranium CFS, past president of the Geranium School Council, lay reader in the Anglican church and held multiple positoins in the St. John Ambulance Service. The last of which saw him honoured with the Ambulance Service Medal for distinguished service to the SA Ambulance Service and life membership.
Leith was very well known throughout the bowls community, sacrificing his time tirelessly to the sport of lawn bowls. He held several positions throughout his many years, at Geranium and District Bowling Club, from Greenkeeper, Secretary, to President. In support of the sport for our state, he was a Regional Councillor before being elected in 2013 to the Bowls SA board, a position he held for seven years whilst serving on the Finance and Audit and other committees.
His success on the green saw him recognised as the Geranium and District Bowling Club singles champion 2010/2011, as well as the Club Pairs Champion for 1999/2000, 2007/2008 and 2010/2011. Further success with several tournaments followed his move to Lameroo Bowling Club.
We send our deepest condolences to Leith’s wife Kathleen, family and friends.
