BOWLS SA AWARDS – PAST WINNERS
The fundamental value of bowls is to unite and inspire those within our state. It is important for the bowls community to unite, inspire and celebrate the success and long standing contribution of our athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, clubs and supporters.
CLUB OF THE YEAR
Recognises the club who has made a contribution to the growth of the sport in SA in a significant and identifiable manner; including the implementation of a Bowls SA initiative or program – for example, coordinating a successful FIVEaa Night Owls program, GetBowledOver program or hosting a Bowls SA event.
ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR
Recognises a person who has made a significant contribution to their club and/or to the sport as a whole in a role as an administrator. They are an inspiration to the community for their tireless work, commitment and dedication to their club and to the sport and often go above and beyond to change their club for the better by encouraging, supporting and motivating others.
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
Recognises individuals who have contributed to the sport within the last 12 months in areas such as administration, promotion, membership initiatives, club maintenance and support and other general roles at club, association and/or state level and whose achievements are of such a standard of excellence to set them apart from their peers.
OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR
Recognises individuals who have made a significant commitment to officiating at all levels. They have shown both professionalism, sportsmanship and an exceptional understanding of the Laws of the Sport. They have also been dedicated to passing on the knowledge to future officials through their excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Recognises an individual who has made a significant contribution throughout the year, in a variety of ways through club development, coaching members, juniors and players with a disability by utilising innovative coaching techniques, good communication and interpersonal skills.
STATE EVENT PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
The State Event Players of the Year are each calculated on accumulated points from state events throughout the year, with assigned weighting given towards more prestigious events such as the state singles.
STATE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE YEAR
The State Representative Players of the Year are awarded to the best performed male and female State players in all test matches played during the year. This is based on players submitting point allocations on their fellow teammates for each game, with the points being added together to decide the State Representatives of the Year
U18 PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
Determining the boys and girls, Under 18 Players of the Year is based on the points allocated
per test for the players at the National Under 18 Championships and the Under 18 SA vs VIC
Series, as well as their performance at the Under 18 State Championships.
MGA COUNTRY CARNIVAL PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
Are calculated by accumulated points from the three MGA Country Carnival events, singles, pairs and fours, with assigned weighting given towards the more prestigious events.
INNOVATION AWARD
Recognises a club that has demonstrated and applied new and innovative policies, procedures, and promotions which have significantly contributed to the growth of the club and its membership, or has enhanced the benefits to existing club members and participants in a new and creative manner.
MEDIA RECOGINITION
Recognises the important role that media plays in the promotion of sport, and has established a number of communication channels including The Bowler, Facebook and Instagram, as well as achieving a presence in key metro and country media channels. This award acknowledges those who help bring media coverage to our sport in their local area through various formats.
COMMUNITY SPIRIT
Celebrates the important role that clubs make in their communities, across our great state. This award is presented to a club that leads by example in the way it brings its community together.
