Three new members of Bowls SA board

Bowls SA would like to officially welcome three new members to its board as we head into 2021.

Jeff Krebbekx (board director), Karen Gatto (board director), and Kay Matthias (independent board member) have all joined the board.

Kay Matthias

Kay has been involved with sport almost all her life as a player, coach, umpire and administrator.

She was secretary/manager of the Mount Gambier Basketball Stadium, secretary of the Kensington Gardens Tennis Club and president and secretary of a number of other clubs throughout regional and metropolitan SA.

She was a netball, tennis, softball and basketball player, and is now a bowler with the Watervale Bowling Club and prior to that while working in Adelaide, was a member of both the Payneham and Kensington Gardens Bowling Clubs.

Kay has a keen interest in governance and is currently a director of four boards and committees.

While she has been a sports administrator, as a CEO of a company over the past few years, she had to restrict her board involvement.

However, now that she is semi-retired, she would like to become involved in sports administration again; particularly now that she has gained significant experience in governance principle and practices over the years.

Kay was recently reappointed to the Energy and Water Ombudsman board (where she represents country consumers) for a fourth term.

She has considerable experience in working with communities and multi stakeholders and understands the challenges involved in the governance of sport.

Kay is a qualified journalist and has a Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling), while she is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
