What is the toughest challenge your club has faced in the past 12 months and how have you overcome it?
Covid-19 causing interruptions to Pennants and other bowls. Encouraging and enforcing the No Jab No Entry policy in all our clubs. We have overcome it by explaining to members why the policy is in place.
What is it that you enjoy about being in an administrative role?
Being able to use my knowledge of bowls to assist others and the contact with other people who I wouldn’t have contact with. I just love being involved.
What do you believe to be the key to running a successful club?
Having members who want to be involved therefore being willing to assist in running a the club. Members need to be able to give and take and sometimes have a thick skin so the unnecessary comments can ‘roll off their backs’.
What would you say to someone considering taking on an administrative role at their club?
Have a go, you will learn lots about the game and how the system works.
