Two Board Directors Appointed at Bowls SA AGM

by Marketing on September 29, 2023

At the recent AGM, it was announced that two directors were appointed to the Board of Bowls SA. This year there were three positions to be filled. Unfortunately, Janet Munn, with great disappointment had to withdraw her nomination due to personal reasons.

Graham Houston was appointed as a new Director for a two-year term, and Kay Matthias was reappointed for another two-year term. Both were welcomed by those present at the AGM, with both bringing a wealth of experience into their roles as directors.

Graham Houston brings to his role over 35 years in sports administration at club, association and state level in tennis, Australian Rules and lawn bowls which has given Graham the opportunity to make progressive improvements in their policies, procedures and processes.

45 years in private business with international companies, Graham has a successful track record of planning, communication, project management, international auditing (ISO), and developing policies and procedures.

Kay Matthais Has been on the Bowls SA board for four years and has breadth and depth of skills in corporate governance and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Kay is also experienced in sports administration, including Secretary/Manager of the Mount Gambier Basketball Association, Secretary of the Kensington Gardens Tennis Club and administrator of several netball clubs and President Elect of the Watervale Bowling Club. Currently Vice President of the Woodside Bowling Club and previously a CEO, Kay is well versed in the legal and finance knowledge required to manage an organisation. Kay is currently a member of the Bowls SA Audit and Risk Committee and the Remuneration Committee of the Energy and Water Ombudsman.

Bowls SA Board will seek to fill the casual vacancy in due course.

Thank you to outgoing Director Rhys Taylor for your contributions during your term. Rhys will still be an active contributor to Bowls in South Australia as an active member of the Bowls SA Game and Season Format Committee.

The introduction of Graham, and the reappointment of Kay, along with other members of the Board, assembles a high-quality Board of Directors to serve the members of Bowls SA.
