Holdfast Bay a sea of colour
The Holdfast Bay Bowling Club was a sea of colour on Monday for its annual Rainbow Day.
All players got into the spirit of the day, dressing up and accessorising with plenty of bright colours.
One of the organisers of the event Sandy Gaunt said the event, which has been running for a number of years, is all about friendship and fun.
“It is all about celebrating friendship and fun,” she said.
“It is all about wearing colourful clothes out on the greens and getting together as friends.”
Sandy said this year’s event was “very successful”.
“We had 21 teams and that was restricted due to COVID,” she said.
“Compared to other years the financial side was similar, even though we were down on teams.
“We had great support and good sponsorship as well.
“This year we did a different format with rolling pairs, but last year it was fours with powerplays.
“We always try to mix it up since I have been running the tournament.”
Sandy said teams always get into the spirit of dressing up in bright colours on the day in a bid to be named best dressed.
“We had five teams vying for three prizes, which the girls voted on themselves,” she said.
“It was quite a bit of fun.
“They tend to dress up as teams and they take it seriously.”
Sandy highlighted the ongoing support of the event from bowlers across South Australia.
“We have a repeating number of teams that come each year,” she said.
“They tell us that they won’t miss it, which is always nice to hear.
“We had teams as far north as Jamestown and as far south as Victor Harbor.
“Teams ranged from up north to right down the coast.”
