Come Try Bowls Event – Invictus Australia
South Australian Regional Bowls Managers, Daniel Cocks and Brett Herbert, recently worked with Invictus Australia to assist in organising and then running a come and try bowls event. Invictus Australia strengthens the physical and mental wellbeing of veterans and their families through the power of sport and recreation, and this was certainly on display on the day. With over 50 registrations, including many children, the event was held at the Playford Bowling Club, who graciously offered their greens, volunteers and a BBQ lunch for no charge.
The adults enjoyed learning about the sport and participating in several social, but very competitive games, whilst the children had a great time using the Rookie Rollers equipment and the activities that were set up. It was fantastic to see and hear the enjoyment on both greens, with many commenting that they would love to pursue the sport further. Playford was so impressed with the Rookie Rollers equipment that they are looking to purchase a kit to use for their own school holiday bowling programs. We are looking forward to hosting another Invictus bowls event later this year.
