Bowls SA is a mission driven sporting organisation, responsible for the administration, governance and prosperity of Lawn Bowls in South Australia.
Following on from the recent 19th Bowls SA Annual General Meeting and the resignation of Board Director Paul Zerella, applications are invited from persons interested in being considered for appointment in the position of male and female elected Directors of Bowls SA.
Directors will be motivated by the challenges and responsibilities of the role and committed to actively contributing to positive impacts while upholding the highest governance standards at all times. The Board meets a minimum of 6 times each year and Board Members are expected to serve on Board Committees.
As a Director, you will ensure the Board actively prvalues of the organisation and delivers:
• Effective governance of the organisation;
• Clear strategic direction, with a specific focus on identifying new opportunities for growth and delivery;
• The review, approval and monitoring of the business plan and annual budget;
• Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements at director and organisational levels; and,
• Effective risk management by identifying, monitoring and mitigating internal and external risks.
Candidates will be considered on the following criteria:
Essential:
• Member of a Bowls SA affiliated Club
• An understanding of, and adherence to, best practise governance standards
• The ability to form a working relationship with the Board Directors and CEO
• Familiarity with BSA governance structure.
Targeted skills and experience:
• Transformative strategy development and planning
• Government policy, government relations and political advocacy
• Infrastructure, facilities and industrial planning
• Customer and membership services
• Corporate commercial acumen.
Priority given to:
• Experience in community and multi-stakeholder organisations
• An understanding of the challenges involved in the governance of sport
• Willingness to engage regularly with the South Australian Lawn Bowls community
• Membership of a relevant professional or industry associations
• Strong and diverse social and professional networks.
