Arm bowlers ready to represent SA in the upcoming Nationals

On Monday September 9th the opening ceremony of the National Lawn Bowls championships will take place at Tranmere Bowling club as SA hosts the 2019 titles, and will be under the control of Tournament director Mike Porter.

Players will be welcomed by the Mayor of Campbelltown, Jill Whittaker and Club President of Tranmere Dino Decorso, the event will be opened by Bowls SA president Wayne Prosser and the playing programme will commence on the greens at 10.00am, with round 1 of the singles and 4’s disciplines, followed by pairs and triples in the afternoon. This is the second time that Tranmere has staged this event, as it moves from State to State each year.

Teams from SA, Queensland, NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia will be competing for the title of the Best state and the rivalry and competition that has emerged over the past 6 years of this event will once again continue and will produce a very high standard of Bowls.

The main event is the overall State Championship Shield but there will be state vs state trophies being fought out during each day of the tournament.

Each team will comprise 15 players and 3 reserves and all four disciplines Singles, 4’s, triples and pairs will be contested over 4 days of intensive competition at Tranmere bowling club.

The event will conclude on Thursday September 12th with the final round of competition and a gala dinner with presentations.

Bowls Australia will be represented by Board member Bob Boorman at the concluding Gala dinner where he will oversee the draw for the following year’s event which will be staged in Western Australia.
