2021 Prestige Medley Day One Results
Day One of the 2021 Prestige Medley is in the books and we saw some thrilling encounters and wonderful displays of Bowls at the beautiful Riverland venues.
Three minor rounds of play are complete, with a further two rounds scheduled tomorrow morning before the top two teams in each section do battle in the final tomorrow afternoon.
In the Women’s event being played entirely at The Lawns Renmark Club, there has been some incredible results today with many games, and matches overall being decided by only a matter of 1 or 2 shots. In section 1, it’s the host region, Region 4 – North Eastern, who are in first place of section 1 going through the day undefeated and finishing with 3 wins and 30 points. Region 10 – Metro East are close behind in second place with 2 wins and 24 points. In section 2, Region 5 – Eyre Peninsula is in first place with 3 wins and 30 points. Close behind in second is Region 9 – Metro North, with 2 wins and 24 points.
On the men’s side of things we had a section played at Loxton and Loxton RSL respectively with the teams due to swap venues tomorrow before the final is played at Loxton RSL. All matches have been highly competitive and played in great sportsmanship but at the conclusion of play there are some familiar faces at the pointy end of the table.
In Section 1, Region 12 – Metro West lead the way undefeated on 34 points but only after survivor a scare with a thrilling one shot victory in their first game over Region 11 – Metro South who picked up their next two games to sit in 2nd place of the section on 24 points.
In Section 2, defending champions Region 10 – Metro East also got through the day undefeated on a total of 34 points but had to work hard to get their three wins. Region 4 – North Eastern are hot on their heels on 29 points after winning their first two matches before playing out a thrilling draw with Region 1 – South Eastern in the final game. Region 10 & Region 4 are due to meet tomorrow which will no doubt be a section defining encounter.
