2019 Secondary School Championships

by BowlsSA2 on May 6, 2019

A wet and windy day greeted us for the 2019 Secondary School Championships being held at Lockleys Bowling Club. The weather didn’t  deter our 22 singles players and 14 triples teams and thanks to the fantastic efforts of the volunteer makers and the greenkeeping team at Lockleys a full day of fantastic bowls was enjoyed by all participants.

The Secondary School Championships aim to blend competition with participation to provide school participants who may have been introduced to the sport an opportunity to progress their skills in competition against other juniors.

Schools had the ability to nominate players for the singles or triples events with players then competing in shortened game vying for the Gold, Silver & Bronze medals in each discipline.

The results from the day are below:

Singles

Gold: Fergus Rowntree (Prince Alfred College)

Silver: Connor Brown ( Kadina Memorial School)

Bronze: Faith Scholes (Kadina Memorial School)

Triples

Gold: Olivia Bridgland, Scarlett Miles & Lucy Duncan (Wilderness School)

Silver: Olivia Elfenbein, Emily Jose, Georgie Wilson (Wilderness School)

Bronze: Talan Copley, Tanisha Jentz & Rhys Hanna (Cardijn College)

Bowls SA again thank the volunteers who assisted with the running of the event. If your club is interested in establishing school sessions but are unsure where to start, please contact the Bowls SA office on 8234 7544.
