Skins tournament a success

In ideal conditions on Sunday 28th November the Nuriootpa Bowling Club, in partnership with the Vine Inn Barossa Community Hotel, welcomed visitors from across the State to our annual Skins Tournament on well-groomed greens.

Twenty teams, including representatives from nearby Angaston, Kapunda, Lyndoch, Nuriootpa and Tanunda, as well as from afar representing clubs from Adelaide, Balaklava, Barmera, Berri, Blyth, Burra, Hamley Bridge, Modbury Night Owls, Owen, Payneham, Port Wakefield, Salisbury, Watervale and Woodville, attended the day looking to share friendship, take on the challenge and take home the prizes on offer.

After the first round of ten ends the teams split into pairs with one pair taking on another team whilst the rest of the team were treated to an outstanding lunch with their opposition.

Once the three bowl triples was completed for the first pair they came in for their lunch and sent out their well fed partners to take on another pair of bowlers.

The first three rounds scores were then totalled and groupings for the Skins were determined.

All teams had the opportunity to play the Skins format with the higher ranked sides playing for higher stakes.

Great contests ensued for all players and amid a keen determination and much humour each team attempted to gain that two shot advantage for the monetary reward.

Many thanks are extended to all the volunteers in preparing the greens, working the bar, preparing and serving the meals as well as the other many jobs that are attended to during the event.

It is the support of the many that help make the day such a success.

Well done to all involved for the high level of sporting endeavour and quality bowling.
