Past Presidents week a winner on the Eyre Peninsula

The 14th biennial bowls past presidents association friendship state carnival was held across multiple venues on the Eyre Peninsula earlier this month.

Membership of the association is open to bowlers who have served a minimum of one year in office as president or chairperson of an association, however, continuation in office does not preclude them from eligibility.

In addition, funds raised through the effort of members are donated to various charitable organisations within South Australia.

A field of 30 teams from across the state took part in this year’s event, which saw matches played over a week across venues at Port Lincoln, Kirton, Coffin Bay, Cummins and Tumby Bay.

120 past association presidents competed in the open gender tournament, which consisted of two games of 32 ends each day.

The games were played in a friendly, but competitive manner, and generous lunches were provided by the host clubs.

Competitors were greeted with pleasant weather across the majority of the week, while all facilities were in tip top shape.

The next state carnival is set down for 2023, with a host region yet to be announced.
