Mental health first aid course for clubs

by Marketing on April 15, 2021

Bowls SA, in partnership with the Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation, will be running a Mental Health First Aid course next month.

The two-day course will be held at Club Holdfast on Wednesday, May 5, and Friday, May 7, with all clubs urged to consider getting at least one or two members registered to take part.

The course is $250 per person and is being run by the team at Breakthrough from 9:30am to 4pm on both days.

It will cover topics such as recognising common mental health problems, providing initial help using a practical, evidence-based action plan, seeking appropriate professional help and responding in a crisis situation.

The course is part of Bowls SA and Breakthrough’s ongoing fight against mental illness within the bowls community and wider society.

Bowls SA encourages all clubs to consider getting one or two members trained in Mental Health First Aid to help continue making our bowling clubs a safe place for everyone.
