The Hawthorn Bowling Club has labelled its recent Wine and Cheese tasting event a resounding success.

The event, which was held on Friday, November 13, saw 94 people in attendance.

The night saw those in attendance taste a wide range of wine and cheeses, while there were also raffles.

The platters, which were assembled by Marilyn, Trudy and Trish along with their helpers, included fresh fruit, olives, slices of mettwurst, cucumber, beetroot flavoured dip, parmesan biscuit, bread and crackers to compliment the cheeses.

Phil Manser, of Wines Direct, provided entertaining stories about the wine industry and taught guests how to taste wine ‘like a pro’.

The wines provided on the night, represented an opportunity to taste and purchase some top-quality offerings, at very affordable prices.

The club thanked Udder Delights and the Barossa Valley Cheese Company for their tasty wares, with many members likely to stop in at their shops when in the Adelaide Hills or Barossa respectively.

They also thanked Wine Direct and Manser Wines for supply of the wines and Phil Manser for helping with the event and the tasting notes on the tables.

Malcolm Keller, from the club’s events committee, thanked all involved for making it a successful evening.
