Bowls SA expresses their condolences after receiving news of the passing of former Bowls Australia president Ron Tuckerman.
Taking up lawn bowls after his career in Rugby Union, his illustrious career in bowls administration commenced when he was elected Yowani Country Club’s delegate to the Federal District Bowls Association (now Bowls ACT) in 1974.
He was elected President of Bowls Australia in 1992, and developed the organisation’s first strategic plan. Ron was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 and was a life member of Bowls ACT and Yowani. In 2022, he played his 500th Pennant match for Yowani CC Bowling Club.
Ron’s legacy lives on in the ACT Sports Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 2010. Bowls SA staff and board keep Ron’s family and friends in their thoughts at this time
