Vale Patrick Lynch: Leaving a Legacy in Bowls SA
It is with deep sadness that Bowls SA acknowledges the passing of Patrick Lynch, a distinguished former Director of Bowls SA and a cherished member of the Robe Bowling Club. Serving on the Bowls SA Board from 2017 to 2021, Patrick made significant contributions to the sport and its governance, leaving a legacy that will be felt for years to come.
Patrick joined the Robe Bowling Club in 2011 and quickly became a cornerstone of its community. A dedicated top-division pennant player, he also proudly represented his region in the Men’s Country Carnival, Country Round Robin, and Prestige Medley. His commitment to the game extended beyond playing—he became an accredited coach in 2014, generously sharing his knowledge and passion with players of all ages and abilities.
In his role on the Bowls SA Governance Committee, Patrick was instrumental in strengthening the organisation’s structural and strategic foundations. He played a key role in revising the Robe Bowling Club’s constitution and driving its strategic direction. Patrick was a tireless advocate for inclusivity in bowls. He championed the belief that the sport should be welcoming and accessible to all, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or ability. His commitment to diversity reflected the true spirit of the sport—one built on friendship, community, and respect.
Beyond bowls, Patrick brought a lifetime of sporting knowledge through his long involvement in cricket and golf. With more than two decades of cricket experience and over 45 years as a golfer, he possessed a deep understanding of community sport, which greatly informed his leadership and mentorship within the bowls community.
Patrick Lynch will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, inclusive spirit, and outstanding leadership. His contributions to bowls in South Australia have left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. While he will be dearly missed, his legacy will continue to guide and inspire the bowls community for years to come.
