Vale Lyn Walker

The Lameroo Bowling club and Bowls SA are sad to advise of the passing of Lyn Walker. Lyn began his bowling career in the 1980/81 bowling season and quickly became extremely proficient at the sport. He won many club events including, club singles on three occasions, association singles once, club pairs seven times, and fours twice. During this time he was selected to play both in Round Robin and also Prestige Medley events for Region 6/Eastern division. He became Club Coach, a position he held for many years assisting new bowlers in the sport. He was aslo the Club President from 1981 till 1991 having previously been on the management committee for several years.

Lyn was awarded Life Membership of the Lameroo club in 2014. He became an umpire in 1984 and continued rising to the status of an ITO joining as a member of the State umpires committee. During this time he officiated as an umpire and marker for World Bowls, Regional and Association events. Lyn was also an Association and Regional Selector having a keen eye for excellence. He served as a Delegate and rose to be the President of the Region. He acted as the Executive Delegate for Region 6 to the State Consultative Committee until the Committee was retired In 2015. Lyn was awarded Life membership of the Region. His commitment and devotion to the sport will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
