Toorak-Burnside capitalising on grant money

The Toorak-Burnside Bowling Club heads into the second half of the 2020/21 season on a high after they recently received a grant from their local council to put towards equipment.

They received $12,000 from the City of Burnside Council, which has been put towards new scoreboards.

Club Secretary Andrew MacKenzie said the club has received the first $6000 and they are about to receive the remaining $6000.

“It was a very nice little bonus for the club,” he said.

“We were excited to get it and it couldn’t have come at a better time, with things like the country carnival coming up.

“We have got all the new scoreboards up and they look really good.”

Andrew encouraged other clubs to look into grants that are available to them.

“Local council grants don’t come up on websites like SmartyGrants,” he said.

“You have got to keep an eye on your council and be in contact with them.”
