Thulborn taking time away from State duty
South Australian bowls star Scott Thulborn has announced he will take an extended break from State duties due to key commitments in other parts of his life resulting him being unable to commit at the level he would like.
Thulborn has represented South Australia at senior level on 141 occasions, with highlights including the 2017 Alley Shield win and numerous SA vs VIC triumphs.
He has represented Australia, while he is also a former World Champion of Champion singles winner and a BPL MVP for the Adelaide Endurance.
Thulborn said representing his state has been a “massive honour”.
“Since I have been a part of the team we have had some great results, and some not so good ones, although we have always been highly competitive.
“I have enjoyed every minute of my time in the SA Reds uniform and have made many of close friendships and learnt a great deal from my teammates and coaches throughout my time.
“I will always be appreciative of the opportunities I have been given.
“I’m not sure what the future will hold, but for now I am just unable to give the squad the time and commitment it deserves.
“I wish the SA team all the very best going forward.”
