The BPL Cup Roadshow Rolls onto Henley

by BowlsSA6 on August 26, 2020

A beautiful winter’s day greeted 12 teams last Saturday (Aug 22) at Henley Bowling Club for the next qualifying round for the BPL Cup. Kicking off at 12pm, the 12 sides were pitted against each other in 3 sections of 4. After 3 sectional matches each, the winning sides from section 1 (Willcox, Lodge, Deakin, Gebert – Hawthorn BC) and section 2 (Edwards, Schurgott, Westbury – Henley) played off, whilst the winner of section 3 (Napper, Schenk, Veall – Brighton) played against the next best qualifier from the second-place finishing sides from across the sections (Marsh, Miller I, Miller N, Barriga – Section 1 – Henley) to allow for two sides to go through.

At the end of a great event, the two winning sides were (Willcox, Lodge, Deakin, Gebert – Hawthorn BC) and (Marsh, Miller I, Miller N, Barriga – Henley) who will now progress to the next round of the BPL Cup, which will likely take place in January 2021.

Thank you to Henley for hosting such a successful event with great hospitality and a great turnout, all whilst administering COVID-19 Best Practice.

There’s still time to register for the event next weekend at Rosewater (Sep 6 10am), by heading to: https://www.bowlslink.com.au/guest-entries/new/9044aee9-3146-4332-89a9-16ae75a612a1

Further to this, owing to the postponement of the BPL at Club Pine Rivers in November 2020, there will be an extension to the period in which qualification periods can be played. As such, stay tuned for announcements on further events across the state that will take place across September, October and November.
