Steinwedel Seals Over 60’s State Representative Award
Kingscote Bowling Club’s Daryl Steinwedel was crowned Over 60’s Men’s State Representative of the Year at the recent 2023 – 2024 Bowls SA Awards Night.
Steinwedel has become an integral part of the South Australian men’s over 60’s team in recent years, starting this season’s campaign playing third, but eventually moving into the role of skip and making the most of the opportunity.
Steinwedel said he was proud to win the award alongside a strong contingent of finalists.
“You always hope you are a chance, but with Gary and Garry, both guys are such great players,” he said.
“I was more than happy just to be nominated, so to win is a complete bonus.
“It’s been a great pleasure to play in the over 60s with these guys.”
Steinwedel said he has enjoyed the opportunity to pull the state uniform on again.
“I was lucky enough to represent the state at open level, so to get another opportunity in the over 60s is great,” he said.
“It is a great group to play with, it has just been really enjoyable.”
