Bowls SA are excited to announce the host venues for some of the premier state events for season 2019-20.

Firstly, the 2019-20 Men’s Prestige Medley and Champions Week events. After a tender process which saw a raft of strong applications, the Playford Bowling Club stood out as the premier candidate and will host these events for the 19-20 season.

The Playford Bowling Club is regarded as the best facility of its type in South Australia and remains the largest set of undercover bowling greens in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Playford Sports Precinct includes our high-quality tennis centre, the neighbouring Central District Football Club, Aquadome, Ridley Reserve and the Adelaide United Football Club training facility.

Mayor Glenn Docherty of the City of Playford said “We’re excited to be showcasing our bowls club and our sports precinct to competitors from across the state during these two prestigious events. The Playford Bowls Club is a state-of-the-art facility and council welcomes high calibre events at our flagship bowls club. The City of Playford is proud of our sporting facilities, which gives residents and visitors of all ages the chance to enjoy all the health and social benefits that sport and recreation can bring”

Bowls SA Chief Executive Officer Mark Easton highlighted it was exciting to be bringing some of the best talent in the state to a state of the art venue. “We are excited that Playford will have exposure to this event and see some of the best calibre Male and Female players in the state converge on the venue across the two events. Both events have slightly different purposes but the result is an opportunity for the venue to be front and centre for Lawn Bowls action in April”

The Men’s Prestige Medley will see each region pick their best players to battle it out to play for the bragging rights of best regional team on April 18 & 19, 2020.

Champions week will see the culmination of all state events played throughout the year with qualifiers battling it out for the title of state champion in each of the 13 different disciplines. The event will be staged from April 26 – May 3, 2020.

Both events are free for spectators to attend and the club will have bar and hospitality services available throughout. Bowls SA thank the City of Playford for their support of this event.

In addition, Bowls SA are also excited to announce the host of the annual South Australian vs Victoria test series which will be held at the McLaren Vale Bowling Club from January 14-16, 2020. This event will see the open men’s, open women’s and under 18 boys and girls series being contested at this prominent country club.

The action on the green will be some of the best bowls you can see with Australian Squad representatives in action and a fierce rivalry to boot, it is free to attend throughout and the club will have hospitality available.
