State All Abilities Champions for 22/23

by Marketing on July 16, 2023

Throughout an eventful weekend at Playford Bowling Club women and men from bowling clubs across South Australia battled it out for our State All Abilities ID and Para crowns.

The ID singles field of 6 bowlers, competed in three sections on Saturday to see Port Noarlunga’s Matthew Ainsworth sweep the floor with three solid wins, while last year’s champion Jarrad Olsen also enjoyed an undefeated day, both securing their passage through to the final this morning.

On this glorious winter’s Sunday Jarrad Olsen was thrilled to clinch his back-to-back State All Abilities ID crown 21 shots to 16 over Matthew Ainsworth.

The Para singles field of 21 bowlers also competed in three sections on Saturday with Millicent’s Aaron Emonson progressing through to the semi-final this afternoon by defeating Lockleys’ Christopher Flavel in a nailbiter. Victor Harbor’s Tom Gibbs enjoyed a successful day yesterday and this morning before a strong semi-final match this afternoon against Payneham’s Trevor Paech to progress through to the final this afternoon.

After last year’s disappointment for Tom Gibbs when the weather prevented the final match going ahead, his comprehensive display to overcome Aaron Emonson 21 shots to 13 in the final this afternoon would have provided much relief and pride when he was crowned this season’s State All Abilities Para Champion in his own right.
