by BowlsSA1 on January 20, 2021

Sunday 24th January will see the Sports Centre State Singles Final 16 & 8 matches kick off.

With the weather forecast to be 42 and 45 on Sunday in Mount Barker and Murray Bridge respectively, the State Event Committee have decided to move the matches to western suburbs of Adelaide where it is forecast to be a tad cooler at 39 in attempt to keep the tournament on track.

The State Events Committee and Bowls SA would like to thank Oakbank and Murray Bridge for being the original host club and we look forward to the future in bringing events to these clubs.

Our two new host clubs are now Rosewater Bowling Club and Somerton Bowling Club. Bowls SA thank these two clubs for coming on board at short notice.

The Round of 16  games for the Men will kick off at Somerton Bowling Club with trial ends commencing at 8:30 am and there are some great matchups. Last year’s Champion of Champion Singles Runner up Brenton Roberts (Strathalbyn) will battle it out against newly added Pathway Jackaroos squad member Tyson Wilson (Grange) whilst Matthew Northcott (Holdfast Bay) will be up against Region 8 young gun Andrew Peters (Watervale). For the full list of Final 16 matches please click here. Once the Round of 16 matches concludes, the Quarter Final matches will then begin at approximately 11:30 am (Heat Policy permitting).

The ladies final 16 & 8 matches will be played at Rosewater Bowling Club with trial ends also commencing at 8:30 am and 11:30 am respectively. Some epic matchups in the ladies final 16 with six current State Squad members making it through to the Final 16. One match that has caught the keen eye of spectators is Cath Greenslade (Riverton) vs Laini McGorman (Adelaide). Whilst another young star Kate Argent-Bowden (Angaston) who was recently added to the Pathway Jackaroos squad will square off against Chris Keller (Hawthorn). Spectators are more than welcome to come down to Somerton and Rosewater Bowling Clubs to watch and support these players. Please beware that it is going to be hot and please look after yourself if you choose to go out and support.

The Semi Final and Final matches are scheduled for Friday 29th January at Holdfast Bowling Club to kick off at 10.30 am. Bowls SA will be live streaming the Final of the Sports Centre State Singles to our Facebook page.
