South Australians feature in Jackaroos squads
A number of South Australians have received a major boost to start 2021 by being named in the various Australian Jackaroos squads.
Grange’s Wayne Ruediger headlines selections as he finds himself once again in the men’s Jackaroos squad, this time as the senior member at the age of 44.
Young gun Nathan Black, of West Lakes, has been rewarded for his efforts by being elevated to contracted Emerging Jackaroos status, where he will work closely with both the Pathway Coaches and national High Performance coaching personnel.
Holdfast Bay’s Josh Studham returns once again as part of the Emerging Jackaroos squad.
With Emerging Jackaroos players eligible for selection in non-benchmark international events, national selectors have declared that additional appointments could be made throughout the year to reward and develop consistent contributors.
Kate Argent-Bowden, of Angaston, Grace Moloney, of Arthurton, Tyson Wilson, of Grange, and Jayden Zeller, of Holdfast Bay, are all members of the inaugural developmental Pathway Jackaroos squad.
Payneham’s Chris Flavel is also part of the Para-Sport Jackaroos squad for 2021.
National coach Steve Glasson OAM said it was an exciting time to announce the squads for 2021.
“It’s really exciting to announce the elite Jackaroos Squad members for 2021…,” he said.
“Just as exciting is the opportunity to grow the emerging squad with some outstanding prospects getting the nod; to be able to grow the program through the Pathways Program following generous support from the AIS also provides the opportunity to develop longer term prospects which will ensure Australia continues to produce world class athletes well into the future.”
