Who can nominate to be selected
To nominate for selection, students must be:
- enrolled at an affiliated high school.
- born between 2011 and 2006

Trial details
Trials form part of the 2024 Interschool Challenge held on Thursday, June 27 at Playford Bowling Club. The challenge is a triples tournament with a maximum of one affiliated bowler per team. Please click here for more information on the Interschool Challenge.

Trials are run in a safe and supportive learning environment to select the state team to compete at the School Sport Australia Championships.
- Students are to wear an appropriate school sports top and flat soled footwear. Lawn bowls can be provided to utilise on the day with advance notice.
How to nominate for trials
If you are attending the interschool challenge and would like to nominate for the team please complete the online nomination form by Monday 17 July 2024. A trial cost of $10 inc GST per student is to be paid when nominating online.
You will receive a confirmation email within 2 business days once your nomination has been processed. Your school will also be sent a copy as confirmation of your nomination. Your school has the right to not approve a child’s involvement based on behaviour, attendance and other grounds as determined by the school.
Selection process
Students will compete in the Interschool Challenge in a triples format. The selection panel will select teams based on:
- Ability and game sense in the sport
- Willingness to listen and learn from feedback
- Teamwork
- Level of skill and sport knowledge
- Fitness level and effort
- Positive attitude at trials and school
- Demonstration of being a good sport and behaviour on and off the playing arena
Parental permission must be obtained to be selected to attend the championship.
School endorsement
Selection in a School Sport SA state team requires endorsement from the student’s school principal before confirming their place in the team. Therefore, parents are advised not to make any arrangements that incur costs until the school has confirmed that the student fulfils all requirements.
Accommodation and travel
Students and families are responsible for the arrangement and costs of accommodation, travel, meals and personal spending money during the competition. Bowls SA and School Sport will provide an itinerary of times once the draw and conditions of play have been released.
Championship costs
A player championship levy is payable to School Sport Australia. This is TBC and will be updated as soon as possible.
