Bowls – The Sport for Everyone
Bowls is a versatile sport played by people of all ages, from five to 100, with a range of competitions available from social bowls fondly known as “Night Owls” all the way through to the more elite level of the sport. In South Australia there are over 10,000 people participate in social bowls every year through ‘Night Owls’ programs. How to get started?
Starting young in the sport of bowls can open many opportunities for junior players including the chance to meet other young bowlers and make lifelong friendships, coaching and skills development and talent scouting for State Squads. Bowls SA has events for players under 18 and has girls and boys U18 Squads throughout. Social Bowls – “Night Owls”
Social bowls is all about enjoying the game in a relaxed and fun environment with friends. Anyone can play, all you need is a pair of flat-soled (no heels) shoes, runners. Alternatively you can just play in bare feet. Many clubs throughout South Australia offer Night Owls social programs over the Summer and warmer months. For those who like competitive sport and being part of a team, becoming a member of a club is for you. With 220 clubs across South Australia there is a club near you offering competitive bowls competitions mid-week and over weekends.
