SA Super League draft complete, full squads locked in for 2022
The draft for the 2022 SA Super League season was completed last night, with coaches and managers from all eight franchises coming together to finalise their respective squads.
With more than 130 players to pick from, all eight franchises selected seven players each to complete their respective squads for the upcoming season.
As many predicted, Matthew Northcott was selected at pick one by the Heysen Comets, while the Mallee Pirates and Southern Blazers selected Josh Thompson and Renata Callisto respectively to round out the top three.
Reigning back-to-back premiers the Central Chargers were able to further bolster their squad by trading picks 24 and 32 to the Mallee Pirates, in return for pick 10, to jump up and select Mathew Short at 10, after earlier landing Stuart Forbes with pick eight.
