Riverland Seniors Victory
The Berri Barmera Council area played hosts to 204 over 60 bowlers who competed in the Senior Supa Series from 30 April to 1 May.
Berri Barmera Council again secured the event for the area with Deputy Mayor Andrew Kassebaum representing the Council to open the event at Berri Bowling Club, and Mayor Peter Hunt attending at Barmera Bowling Club on day two.
The tournament saw entries from all over the state with 34 clubs represented, including interstate entries from NSW.
Competitors and spectators were blown away with the hospitality by the clubs and their fantastic facilities. The capacity event saw great bowls played, with the state selectors very pleased in the quality of players they had to look at for selection for the 2019 Australian Senior Sides.
Renmark locals were too good for the visiting teams with Bill Cropper, Lou Recchia, Ben Quatre-Bornes and Rick Stoeckel taking home the prize money on day one after a great day on the greens.
The combination team from Metropolitan and Yorke Peninsula clubs triumphed over the field on the last day with Jenny Davis (Hope Valley), Heather Knevitt (Wallaroo), Rod Knevitt (Wallaroo) and Steve Eichenberger (Moonta) taking the spoils.
Bowls SA would like to thank both the Berri and Barmera Bowling Clubs for their outstanding efforts in hosting the tournament.
Stay tuned for the next Senior Supa Series tournament to be hosted in September in the Copper Coast Council area.
