Riverland Produces Sunshine, Rain and Bowler’s Delight
This week the Seniors Supa Series rolled into the beautiful South Australian region, the Riverland, to play across two days at Berri and Barmera Bowling Clubs. This two-day event had the beautiful autumn sun for most of the tournament, with a light shower of rain on day two not dampening spirits.
In the heart of the Riverland Berri Bowling Club boasts new premises with two undercover greens for year-round comfort and enjoyment and the Barmera Bowling Club is situated in an ideal location adjacent to the beautiful Lake Bonney.
Prize Money of $700 per day was an enticing draw card, with 16 teams of four on Monday at Berri competing for the chocolates and 18 teams on Tuesday at Barmera, all playing in a round robin format.
Results went down to the wire on Monday at Berri where there was a tie for equal third; the team of Lane/Andersen/Kirchner/Kirchner won third place by winning 26 ends (the other team won 25).
First and second place teams were tied on three wins and a draw – therefore shots up were the difference, with the team of Chandler/Hodgetts/Eichenberger/Eichenberger (+31 ) taking first place over Gray/Houston/Tonkin/Holtham (+19).
Today at Barmera Bowling Club with three wins and a draw (+26) the team of Brown/Karantonis/Reynolds/Rogers took out third place.
Going back-to-back and one shot better than yesterday with 4 wins (+32) the team of Chandler/Hodgetts/Eichenberger/Eichenberger took first place over Secombe/Onto/Onto/Carter with 4 wins (+17).
Bowls SA would like to thank the Berri Barmera Council for sponsorship to help make this event a success. A huge thank you to the officials and volunteers from each club for their amazing hospitality and hard work.
