Numbers up for State Singles

The Sports Centre State Singles men’s and women’s competitions will officially kick off this weekend, with an increase in entry numbers.

A total of 275 players across the state will take part in the men’s competition, while 86 will battle it out in the women’s event.

The 2019/20 men’s title was won by Craig Mills, of West Lakes, while Anne Onto, of Hawthorn, came out on top in the women’s.

Competition will begin with sectionals this Sunday, followed by the knockout stage the following Sunday.

The venues that will be used for metropolitan sectionals include Ascot Park, Brighton, Clearview, Grange, Marion, Holdfast Bay, Somerton and Toorak-Burnside.

Sunday, January 24, will see the final 16 and final 8 matches held at Oakbank for the men and Murray Bridge for the women.

The semi-finals and grand final will be held at Holdfast Bay on Friday, January 29.
