Numbers boom for State Mixed Pairs

by Marketing on December 3, 2020

The 2020/21 State Mixed Pairs competition kicks off tomorrow, with competitors from across the state taking part.

This year’s tournament has seen an increase of up to 30 entries, with a talent-packed field vying for the title.

To align with the Australian Championships, this year’s event will see a 2x2x2x2 format, changing from last year’s three bowl pairs.

Sectional play gets under way tomorrow, with metropolitan competitors having access to play on Friday, while the remaining matches will be played on Sunday.

The venues being used for regional sectionals include Jervois, Laura, Naracoorte RSL and Kapunda.

Clearview, Happy Valley, Brighton, Morphett Vale, Holdfast Bay, Grange and Modbury will each host metropolitan sectional matches, while Torrensville will host the metropolitan knockout rounds.

The knockout matches will be held next Sunday (December 13), before the final 16 and quarter finals will take place on Sunday (December 20), at McLaren Vale.

The competition will come to head on Monday, December 21, with the semi-finals and grand final also being held at McLaren Vale.

Berri’s Kerry Treloar and Holdfast Bay’s Ashley Klose won the 2019/20 competition and will be looking to make it back-to-back titles this year when they team up again.

Karen Gatto, of West Lakes, and Ashley Halls, of Lockleys, will be looking to go one better this year after finishing runners-up in the 2019/20 event.
