MGA Men’s Country Carnival Kicks Off
One of the most popular events on the South Australian bowls calendar kicked off today, with the 2023 MGA men’s country carnival getting under way.
With 37 sections of fours being played across Brighton, Ascot Park, Salisbury, Marion, Henley and Semaphore.
Bute’s Scott/Copley/Pridham/Manners were comfortable winners of all three of their matches in section two at Brighton.
Over at Ascot Park, the foursome of D. Noble (Cleve)/J. Noble (Waikerie)/Fulwood (Waikerie)/Johns (Waikerie) took care of all three of their opponents in section seven.
Berri’s Stokes/Hollis/M. Treloar/D. Treloar led the way at Salisbury, comfortably winning section 13, while Hooker (Broken Hill North)/ Earle (Kadina)/Robinson (Wallaroo)/Gageler (Zinc Broken Hill) finished on top of section 15 with three wins.
Section 25 at Marion was a hotly contested group, with Clarendon’s Hirst/Taylor/McInnes/Williams eventually coming away on top.
The South East combination of Armfield (Kingston)/Hyland (Kingston)/Lynch (Robe)/Burgoyne (Robe) were one of the standout rinks at Henley, winning all three of their matches, while the Jamestown rink of Simpson/Broughill/Bray/Bowman overcame a talented section 34 to come out on top.
Tomorrow’s action kicks off from 9am, with singles sectionals set to be played at Brighton, Marion, Trinity Gardens, Salisbury, Modbury, Playford, West Lakes, Salisbury and Happy Valley.
