Metro Senior Supa Series a success
Bowlers from across the State converged on the Marion Bowling Club over the past two days to take part in the Metropolitan Senior Supa Series Event.
We saw perfect conditions to kick off the Senior Supa Series on Monday, as 30 teams took over the Marion Bowling Club and put on an excellent display of bowls.
The day’s winning teams came away with four wins each, with shots for and against being the deciding factor between them.
The West Lakes crew of, Brendan West, Roger Downton, Alistair Robertson and Ian Beasley took out third place with +27.
Second Place was narrowly held by +3 points, and this was the team of Joe Conte (Lobethal), Noel Kneebone (Murray Bridge RSL), Neville Mansell (Lobethal) and Tony Treloar (Ascot Park).
The winners, who put on a clinic, were the team of Stephen Davidson (Willunga), Ian Fyfe (Marion), Ken Holtham (Marion) and Phil Whyte (Birchmore) with +37.
After a big first day, 28 teams battled through grey skies and wet conditions to play in another four rounds of competitive bowls on day two.
The winning teams each took out 4 wins for the day and only winning by a small margin.
Once again it was the shots for and against being the decider.
The team of Stephen Davidson (Willunga), Ian Fyfe (Marion), Ken Holtham (Marion) and Graham Phil Whyte (Birchmore) came in third place with +26.
Only missing out by a small margin, the Hawthorn team of Dennis Crawley, Darren Niblett, Doug Richards and Brett Willcox with +28 finished second.
Taking out the first place title, the combined experience of Joe Conte (Lobethal), Noel Kneebone (Murray Bridge RSL), Neville Mansell (Lobethal) and Tony Treloar (Ascot Park) with +31.
