McLaren Vale Men’s Mental Health Day
The McLaren Vale Bowling club held an extremely informative and beneficial Men’s Mental Health day on Sunday 8th of December. The club organised for some very notable key speakers to attend the day with the view to inform, promote and raise awareness surrounding Men’s Mental Health.
The day attracted over 100 attendees who were treated to a game of Bowls in the morning, with Hawaiian shirts and Straw Hats the dress code of choice. Following this a magnificent lunch was served along with a raffle and auction of some great prizes generously donated by local businesses and sponsors with all funds raised going towards the Breakthrough Foundation to support Mental Health.
The main event of the day was to hear from the esteemed speakers on their journey and experience with Mental health and in many ways their journey can be seen as a celebration as to their progress today.
Speakers included:
John Mannion (Executive Director, Breakthrough Foundation)
Zane Kirkwood (Sturt Football Club and 2x Magarey medal winner)
Steve Glasson OAM (Bowls Australia Head Coach)
Matt Newlands (Former police force member)
Corrie Guerin (Mental Health professional)
Well done to the club on organising to support such a worthy cause and raising around $4000 for the Breakthrough Foundation.
