24 teams from across South Australia made their way to the Wallaroo Bowling Club on Tuesday the 15th of September, for the Day 2 of the first Senior Supa Series of the 2020/21 season.

With teams from all around South Australia in attendance, COVID Marshals, guidelines and restrictions were in place to ensure a COVID-Safe event was conducted.

Two games of fours and 2 games of pairs gave these players plenty of opportunity to impress with state selectors in attendance.

Game one saw eventual second-place getters, Claire Eichenberger’s side, kick off the day with a big win (29-6).

Game two saw Neal’s side hit their straps with a big win (13-3) over Coultas, whilst eventual third place winners (Heitmann) continued their great form with a resounding 13-8 win.

Game three was tightly contested by all sides, with one draw (Robinson v Deeble) and 2 games (Neal v Harvey & Wohling v Lampshire) decided by just one shot.

Heading into game four, the competition was evenly poised with 3 teams having recorded three wins for the day (Eichenberger, Walton, Diprose). Miraculously, none of these sides won their final round match which ensured a tight finish to the tournament. Of these sides – Dipsrose managed to salvage a final round draw (12-12) to clinch the day 2 title. Eichenberger’s side narrowly missed a perfect day, going down by 1 shot whilst eventual third-place winners (Heitmann) finished off their day with a huge 18-1 win to rocket into third place.

Third place getters Kepling / Williams / Murdoch / Heitmann (Hope Valley) with 3 wins and 9 points fell just short on shot difference to second place getters Redding / Cavanagh / Eichenberger / Eichenberger (Moonta) also getting 3 wins and 9 points, along with the higher shots up.

Tournament winner, Millowick / Diprose / Gray / Diprose (Edithburgh) with 3 wins, 1 draw and 10 points, said the Senior Supa Series was a great event played alongside great company. Les Diprose added that the Wallaroo Bowling Club’s facilities and greens were of the highest standard.

Tomorrow, the tournament continues at the Wallaroo Bowling Club where we will see further involvement, including the Business of Bowls Breakfast as part of the Copper Coast Bowls Fest.
