Kruse Claims Volunteer of the Year Award

Kensington Marryatville Bowling Club’s Ulli Kruse was crowned Volunteer of the Year at the recent 2023 – 2024 Bowls SA Awards Night.

Having been a member of Kensington Marryatville for 10 years, Kruse is involved with design, manufacture, and maintenance of club facilities, overseeing construction projects, and he is also involved with club apparel, bar work, administrative proposals and team management.

Kruse said he just loves helping around his club and can’t stay away.

“With my background as a fitter and turner, I’m quite a handy person, so whenever there is anything to do, I just do it,” he said.

To anyone out there considering volunteering at their club, Kruse said “go for it”.

“Clubs can’t survive without volunteers and we need more,” he said.

“Unfortunately most of the time it is the same people who put their hands up to volunteer.

“Everybody should do a little bit to help out because that would make life easier for all of us.”
