Willunga Bowling Club 80 year age difference

How Bowls is Bridging Generations

by Marketing on December 20, 2024

On Saturday 14 December 2024 there was an incredible 80-year age difference between Willunga Bowling Club’s oldest player, Frank, at 92 and their youngest, Hayden and Harvey, both just 12. The icing on the cake was Willunga getting the win against their previously undefeated opposition.

In late October, Hayden became a member of the Willunga Bowling Club to participate in Pennant matches. A few weeks later, Harvey followed suit and joined the club as well. Their introduction to the sport began with the Come n Try day organised during the October school break. Subsequently, they took part in Willunga’s Junior Challenge event, which was specifically designed for young players and served as a junior adaptation of Night Owls, providing them with an opportunity to further develop their bowling skills in a fun and engaging setting.

There are not many sports that can bridge generations like this, one of the many reasons why we love the game.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a fresh-faced beginner, there’s a place for everyone on our green.
