Chris Flavel is excited to be spending another year in the Para-Sport Jackaroos after the squad for 2021 was recently announced.

Chris, who is a member at Payneham, debuted as cap number 16 and has racked up 34 international appearances so far in his career.

He said it was good to receive the news that he had been retained in the squad for another year.

“You always like getting good news,” he said.

“It is another step in the journey to get to 2022, which is our end game from the Para-Sport side of things with the Commonwealth Games.

“It is another opportunity to work with some great talent and great coaches in Steve Glasson and his crew.

“It is another year of trying to better myself.”

Chris said it was difficult to look too far ahead on the calendar, with COVID-19 still causing issues with events and interstate travel.

“It is hard to say with all the COVID stuff going on,” he said.

“I think they are trying to get some camps up and running, so whether we can travel throughout Australia is one thing, I think overseas travel isn’t an option.

“(I’m looking forward to) just getting around the group again and meeting up with some very talented individuals is something that I am looking forward to.”

While he is focused on 2021, Chris is still keeping one eye on the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

“I have been involved with the Para-Sport Jackaroos since 2016, and just missed the cut for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, but I’m back on the horse again for another crack,” he said.
