Eyre Peninsula and Fleurieu & KI claim Country Round Robin titles
The 2021 Country Round Robin came to a close today, with winners decided in the women’s competition at Lockleys and the men’s at Marion.
Eyre Peninsula (Region 5) came away on top of the women’s competition after a close finish.
The win is Eyre Peninsula’s first in the competition since the 2018 event.
They finished the week with six wins and one loss, with a seven-shot win over Eastern (Region 6) to complete their campaign this morning.
They finished one win ahead of South Eastern (Region 1), who finished runners-up for the second straight year.
Fleurieu & KI (Region 7) rounded out the top three for the week with four wins and three losses.
The men’s competition saw Fleurieu & KI (Region 7) complete a perfect campaign, winning all seven of their matches across the four days to make it back-to-back Country Robin Robin overall victories.
Hot on their heels were Eastern (Region 6), who suffered just the one loss for the week, while South Eastern (Region 1) rounded out the top three.
Thursday saw all players and officials take part in a Breakthrough Day, supporting the work done by the Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation in the battle against mental illness in society.
