Countdown on to Prestige Medley

by Marketing on March 10, 2021

The countdown is on for the much-anticipated Prestige Medley event, which is being held in the Riverland next month.

The event, which sees the best players from the 12 regions across the state take part, will be hosted by the Loxton, Loxton RSL and The Lawns bowling clubs on Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11.

The two days will be a showcase of the top talent South Australia has to offer, with a mixture of country and metropolitan players doing battle to gain bragging rights for their respective regions.

The 2019/20 event was unable to go ahead due to COVID, with the event making a return this year.

The 12 regions are split into two sections, with everyone in each section playing each other once, with matches split into pairs, triples and fours rinks.

The top team from each section will play off in a grand final to decide the men’s and women’s champions.

Bowls SA Operations Manager Matthew Northcott said he is looking forward to a big weekend of bowls.

“It is always great to have the best players from all parts of the state in the same place and competing against each other,” he said.

“The Prestige Medley is always a great event and it is great to get it back up and running after missing last year due to COVID.

“A big thank you to the Riverland clubs that will be hosting matches and everyone else up there that has helped get this event up and running.

“We are excited to take the event to a beautiful place like the Riverland and I’m sure all the visitors to the area will have a great time.”
