Comets and Knights on the charge after round three
Round three of the SA Super League season saw some interesting results, with the Heysen Comets charging into top spot on the League ladder, while the Northern Knights moved into third.
The Comets overcame a slow start to defeat the Mallee Pirates, thanks largely to Damon Edmunds, who came from seven shots down to defeat John Nicolai by two shots in the singles.
The Knights stamped their claim as serious premiership contenders with a win over the Central Chargers, headlined by a 14-shot win to Simon Dorr over Craig Mills in the singles.
The Western Rogues got their campaign back on track with a win over the South Eastern Spartans, with Ashley Klose, Tristan Griffith and Gabe Nardecchia recording a 24-shot win over Scott Andreassen, Brenton Roberts and David O’Shaughnessy in the triples.
The Eastern Raiders registered a narrow overall victory over the Southern Blazers, with an eight-shot win by Neville Mansell over Michael Lodge in the singles proving a vital result.
The depth in the Heysen Comets’ squad has seen their reserves side also make a strong start to the season as they currently also sit on top of the ladder.
The junior competition sees the Central Chargers a game clear on top of the ladder, with the duo of Charlie Hicks and Kane Jansen yet to lose a game.
