Open Women’s Team ready to reach their goals in the West

Confidence is sky-high for the Bowls SA Open Women’s Team in the eyes of coach Beth Quinlan, as players prepare to make the journey out West for this year’s Nationals event.

To be held from October 15-18, at the Osborne Park Bowling Club, the state will send an experienced contingent of players for the Australian Sides Championships, while debutant Karlee Moffatt also features.

Quinlan is confident her Open Women’s squad can perform at the top level across a four-day period, and improve on the two matches won in Tasmania in 2025.

“I’m feeling extremely confident with the way the girls are all performing at the moment, and I think we’re going to go really well over there,” she said.

“The players have all been really good in attending all of their training sessions, and the camp last weekend gave us some strong team bonding, and they performed really well on the green too.

“This year was all about trying to build on our strength throughout the rinks, and that’s why these particular players were selected.

“We’ve got really good skills, and lots of experience on our side, and even with Karlee on debut, she’s a very experienced bowler.”

It’s set to be a difficult opening for the Open Women’s Team, who take on a strong New South Wales in its first match, so Quinlan said her players will need to be in top form from the start.

“The girls need to settle in and adapt when they first get there, so when we do start playing, they’re in the right mindset and used to the conditions,” she said.

“They all know each other’s games really well so that gives us a lot of confidence that we can improve and be better.

“We have a goal, and that’s to do better than what we did last year.”
