More than 1000 Australians were recently recognised with Australia Day honours, with a handful of people from the bowls community among the recipients.

Several bowlers from across the country were recognised with Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to their community, including work they have done with bowls clubs.

Uraidla Bowling Club member Adrian Pobke received an OAM for his service to the community.

Adrian, who has been a member at Uraidla since 2010, has been part of the club’s management committee since 2011.

He held the role of treasurer in 2011, while he also held that role for the Hills Bowling Association in 2015 and the previous two years.
