Bagshaw and Geater-Johnson finish on top
Simon Geater-Johnson, of Holdfast Bay, and Jill Bagshaw, of Arthurton, created their own slice of history by winning the 2020/21 South Australian state mixed pairs title at McLaren Vale today.
Geater-Johnson and Bagshaw came from behind to defeat the Tanunda pair of Andrew Swain and Sue Lefevre by five shots (18-13) in the final.
Geater-Johnson, who is also from Arthurton, and Bagshaw, scored a tight win over Mark Ritchie and Anne Merritt in the semi-final earlier in the day, while Swain and Lefevre also defeated Geoff Hams and Jennifer Trengove in their semi-final.
Swain and Lefevre got the jump on Geater-Johnson and Bagshaw, however the latter pair fought their way back into the contest and were able to finish strongly to claim victory.
