Australian Under 18 Championships Results – Day Three
The 2018 Australian under 18 Championships have been run and won, with South Australia fighting gallantly to claim their share of the medals on offer.
The Boys triples combination can now boast that they are Australian champions after Matthew Freebairn, Fergus Rowntree & Nathan Black defeated Queensland in a see-sawing affair. Our Girls pairs combination of Sheridon Bodnar & Grace Moloney took it right down to the last bowl but eventually claimed a silver medal after losing shot on an umpires measure on the last end. Kate Argent-Bowden put on a dynamic display in her bronze medal singles match to defeat Tasmania and round out the SA’s medal recipients.
Overall the team performed very strongly and if not for several very close losses could have found themselves further up the overall leaderboard. The end result was SA boys finishing in 6th, SA girls finishing in equal 3rd and SA finishing in 5th position overall.
A special mention must go to players who were competing in their last ever under 18 series: Dylan Lewis, Jack Trenorden & Fergus Rowntree.
The state under 18 squad will now be training hard for their test series against Victoria in January as well as next years under 18 championships to also be held in Victoria.

Australian Under 18 Championships Results – Day Two
The sectional play of the 2018 Australian Under 18 Championships has completed with a yeet. In the morning, the SA Reds took on NT followed by the VIC’s in the afternoon. Even though the girls had a bye in the morning, oodles of support was shown across the green.
Overall, the SA Reds dominated the green despite a few of the results not going our way. The team came out firing to put shots on the board, however just fell short as the end neared. The final session saw an incredible surge of determination against the Reds’ arch rivals, seeing half our disciplines making it into the medal matches. Tomorrow’s games are vital for the teams overall ranking as we hope to secure two gold medals and two bronze medals..

Australian Under 18 Championships Results – Day One
The first day of the 2018 Under 18 National Championships, held at Capalaba Bowling Club, Queensland has concluded. Day one saw our SA Reds take on NSW in two matches, followed by a final match against the NT for the boys whilst the girls enjoyed a bye.
Our team started excellently claiming all four disciplines in the morning session against NSW before the Blues fired back to claim all four disciplines in the reverse fixtures. In the final game of the day the Boys split the rinks with NT with a win in the triples and a loss in the pairs. Our team continued to play great bowls throughout the day and represented their state with distinction, still remaining in the hunt for chances at multiple gold medals as well as the overall trophies. Tomorrow will see the boys complete the matches against NT, before the whole team takes on Victoria in a further two matches to decide finals positions.
