Alexandrina Council Senior Supa Series & Bowls Fest set for April

by Marketing on March 11, 2021

The Fleurieu region will be a hive of bowls activity in April, with the Alexandrina Council Senior Supa Series & Bowls Fest event set to be held over five days.

From Monday, 19 April to Friday, 23 April, bowlers will have the opportunity to take part in plenty of action on the green, while also having access to a range of workshops and activities.

The Senior Supa Series action on the greens will take place at Strathalbyn on the Monday, before moving to Goolwa on the Tuesday and then finishing at Port Elliot on the Wednesday.

The Bowls Fest part of the week kicks off on the Wednesday, with a Business of Bowls Breakfast being hosted by the Port Elliot Bowling Club on the Wednesday.

The Thursday will see a Coach Development Workshop held, followed by a CoachZone session, with both of those at Port Elliot, before an Officials Skills Refresher session will be run at Goolwa later that evening.

The Friday will feature a Club Development Workshop, which will be held at the Milang Bowling Club.

Bowls SA Operations Manager Matthew Northcott said it was an exciting time to launch the event.

“Senior Supa Series events are always lots of fun for the players and for us as organisers,” he said.

“Then when you add a Bowls Fest on top of that, the week will be jam packed full of opportunities for bowlers not only to play the sport we all love, but also pick up a few tips to develop their own game and some handy tips to take back to their clubs.

“We will have all bases covered with the different workshops and our staff are looking forward to working with as many members as possible to ensure they get plenty from the experience.”

Mr Northcott thanked the Alexandrina Council for their support of this year’s event.

“We appreciate all the support from Mayor Keith Parkes and the rest of the team at Alexandrina Council,” he said.

“It is a beautiful part of the world and we are proud to host such a big event within the region.”

Alexandrina Council Mayor Keith Parkes said it was an exciting time to be hosting such an event.

“We are very much looking forward to hosting what is set to be a big week of bowls,” he said.

“The event will be a great chance for us to show off our beautiful region and facilities to all the visitors that will be coming to take part in the event.”
