Bowls SA Annual General Meeting Welcomes New and Returning Board Members
Bowls SA held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Club Holdfast on Monday, 22 September 2025, bringing together member clubs, Life Members, and stakeholders both in person and online via Zoom.
President Tim Dodds reflected on a year of progress and strong governance. He highlighted the continued implementation of Bowls SA’s updated By-Laws and the new Club and Associations Model Constitution, as well as the near completion of the Strategic Plan 2025–2028, structured around the three pillars See It, Play It, Support It.
Tim also spoke of Bowls SA’s advocacy across local, state, and federal levels, including participation in Sport SA’s Governance Reform Program, the National Sport Integrity Roadshow, and the Australian Sports Commission’s Play Well State Forums. He emphasised the organisation’s prudent financial management, diversification of revenue streams through new and renewed sponsorships, and the central role of volunteers and clubs in delivering South Australia’s major bowls events.
This year’s AGM also marked the election of directors to the Bowls SA Board. Members voted to re-elect Kay Matthias and Paul Zerella, both continuing their service, while welcoming José Gil as a newly elected director.
Tim thanked all nominees for their commitment and acknowledged the importance of strong leadership in guiding the sport into the next strategic cycle.
“Together, we are ensuring bowls not only remains strong, but grows into the future as one of South Australia’s most welcoming and community-driven sports,” Tim said.
Looking ahead, Bowls SA will deliver its new Strategic Plan, complete the Statewide Facilities Audit & Master Plan, and continue investing in participation, junior development, and partnerships to support clubs across metro and regional South Australia.
Tim reaffirmed Bowls SA’s commitment to its members and the wider bowls community, ensuring the sport remains vibrant, connected, and future-focused.
Following the AGM, the newly formed Board met and elected Tim Dodds as President for another term, extending his leadership into a remarkable sixth consecutive year at the helm of Bowls SA.
