2024-25 MGA Men’s Country Carnival Champions
A fierce stage was set for the Finals day of the 2024-25 MGA Men’s Country Carnival. The beautiful Marion Bowling Club was once again host of the semi finals and finals across the three disciplines. From the start of the day to the completion the countless spectators inside and outside of the club, were in awe of the quality of bowls they were witnessing.
Singles
A new singles champion was bound to be crowned with the 4 bowlers locked into the semi finals looking for their maiden title. In the first semi, Gerrin Jenke (Berri) was victorious over Les Carter (McLaren Vale) with a 21-10 win. On the next rink in a tough fought battle, Mark Wrigley (Streaky Bay) progressed to the final over Garry Smith (Laura) with his last bowl to win 21-20.
Mark Wrigley fought hard from the start to lead after 3 ends, he powered through and did not allow another lead change for the rest of the game. Gerrin Jenke put up an amazing fight but fell short 21-12.

Fours
The fours semi final was dominated by Region 3 players with 2 teams belonging to the Upper Northern Region. Making the semi final for the second year in a row was the team of G Wright (Wilmington) / R Larsson (Booleroo Centre) / A Anesbury (Orroroo) / K Ackland (Orroroo) who unfortunately, didn’t progress any further after losing 12-16 to the Nuriootpa team of G Langley (Sub) / N Roocke / G Chapman / B Brown. On the other side of the draw, G Brand / S Brand / B Murdock / T Brand progressed with a 18-13 win over the team of G Dabinett / R Dabinett / R Van Dyk / D O’shaughnessy.
In the final, the family trio of Geoff, Scott and Todd, with the inclusion of a long time family friend Brett were able to write themselves in the history book with a 18-9 win over the Nuriootpa team.

Pairs
The last semi final of the day was the pairs, and wowee, you did not want to miss them with both games going down to the wire and decided by one shot. McLaren Vale’s duo of R Dienelt / L Carter fell short to S Geater-Johnson and the already crowned champion of the fours T Brand 14-15. The second semi final saw the Kadina pair of B Hines and D Bushell defeat the Mount Gambier pair of B Errock and D Langdon 12-11, with another last end nail biter.
The sun set during the pairs final, with the last couple of ends being played under the lights. The pair of Geater-Johnson and Brand proved strongest leading the whole way to a 19-13 win.
